The Body Shop is the international well-known original natural and ethical beauty brand. For 40 years The Body Shop (3000+ stores in 68 countries) showed the world that business could be a force for good, anchored in Anita Roddick’s pioneering approach to doing business.

Some businesses talk about ‘employee engagement’ and others embed employee engagement at the centre and base their whole ethos and purpose on being a force for good and treating people fairly – across the world. That’s The Body Shop.

With that driving force, the People Manager for our region Benelux has the opportunity to deliver amazing results through an engaged and passionate team of business partners and employees whilst helping grow capability in an evolving team.

Currently this interesting vacancy arises for a passionate

PEOPLE MANAGER BENELUX

Allround, focus on people, business, sustainability

Based region Amsterdam (NL)

THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

As you will be delivering initiatives and support across 3 different countries you get to enjoy the

cultures of both Belgium, Luxembourg and The Netherlands and along with our varied franchise, wholesale and retail estate. It will be your task to deliver an inspiring People Plan based on our Purposeful Entrepreneurial culture throughout the region’s retail chain. In HR terms it really doesn’t get much more exciting and varied than that!

MORE ABOUT THE ROLE

As you would expect – there is lots and lots to do and achieve, but rather than presenting a long list (we can go through that later) here’s a flavour of what you might expect.

There needs to be a plan. So you should expect to help deliver one that is all about our People. You’ll get to understand our vision for our different markets and you’ll build initiatives into the plan to help them get achieved. AND here’s where we, and you, stand out – the plan needs to have our proud B-Corp status and our Activism at the centre. Which is probably why you are interested in THIS People Manager job ahead of any others.

Did we mention employee engagement? Keep that in mind at all times and make sure you weave Wellbeing into that plan.

Our business thrives as a result of its coaching and upskilling culture – we genuinely want people to progress and evolve their careers with us and this role leads from the front to make that possible – for everyone. You’ll influence organisational design and lead from the front on the effectiveness and flexibility of our structure and be a major contributor in how we build leadership capability across the business.

As an inspirational mentor and coach, your team of 2 (1 People Payroll Coordinator, 1 People Intern) will look to you to provide expertise, guidance and advice – so be prepared to be available and to be a great listener and support to help them perform and grow.

Being a truly international business, you will frequently find yourself interacting with other markets and debating best practice and ways of working – it will be your job to evolve the best approach for your market and to share your ideas widely with your peers.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Of course we would expect you to have amassed wide and varied HR experience covering all aspects of the role heading up a regional people function. You’ll be well informed about local labour laws, experienced at managing budgets and adept at finding solutions to problems that others struggle to resolve.  You will be an effective and collaborative manager with a firm grasp on how to drive performance and support growth.

As a member of the Management Team, this role partners with our truly international people team so we need you to speak good English and Dutch and preferable French as a minimum to provide commercially focused business partnering.

This is a truly varied role with the opportunity to make real and impactful change – so you will be expected to evidence your ability to manage projects and to demonstrate where YOUR involvement has made a real difference. You are a strong self-driven person who don’t mind to work with smaller teams in a larger company.

Your alignment with our values and purpose as a business will be key as your involvement and leadership will help us achieve our ambitions regarding, people, profit and planet.

Status procedure: successfully fulfilled
